Mechanism

Proteolytic enzyme complex from pineapple stems. Anti-inflammatory via modulation of prostaglandin synthesis, fibrinolytic, and anti-edematous. Degrades fibrin and reduces blood viscosity. Enhances absorption of other supplements (particularly quercetin and curcumin).

Contraindications

  • Pineapple allergy
  • Pre-surgery (bleeding risk)
  • Active bleeding

Mechanism

Isothiocyanate that activates Nrf2 — the master regulator of antioxidant defense. Upregulates glutathione synthesis, phase II detoxification enzymes, and heat shock proteins. Also inhibits HDAC (epigenetic modifier) and NF-kB (anti-inflammatory).

Contraindications

  • Thyroid conditions (goitrogen at very high doses)
  • Cruciferous vegetable allergy
